Good "inside scoop" books?

I'm afraid CP's "Off the Record" books may be too inaccurate.
Are there any books I can buy that will tell the real story about what different colleges are like?
I know that CC is probably my best tool, but I'd like to buy some reading material to supplement it. :)

i like this book–there’s 3 student accounts for every college in the book

^ I second that.
There is also The Insider’s Guide to Colleges 2008. Past years are helpful as well. :)

CP is actually supposed to be one of the most accurate ones.

Yeah Insider’s Guide is good.

CP does a pretty good job. Fiske isn’t necessarily an inside-scoop book, but it does an incredible job – whenever I visit somewhere, I look and compare it to Fiske, and they’re always spot-on.

Yeah, I’ve got Fiske and the Insider’s guide, and both have a lot of valuable information that the other doesn’t; Fiske tends to focus more on academics, while Insider’s has a lot of in-depth info on social life, dorms, etc. I recommend both.

I personally don’t like Insider’s Guide very much. They don’t bother fact-checking even simple things like names of nearby stores (I go to school in Richmond, VA, and there is a huge chain called Ukrop’s here, and they said it was called U-Crops. Seriously.) I also feel they simplify things too much.
