I'm currently in high school and am interested in future majoring in international relations or something like that. I'm not sure which schools have good IR programs. I have good grade (As and Bs) and I play lacrosse and I'm a part of a few clubs. I want to go to a good school, but one that is not ridiculously expensive. Thanks!

Georgetown is one of the top schools in this field.

If you’re a Virginia resident and want to keep costs down, consider William & Mary.

Private schools with stand-out programs include Georgetown and Tufts. These are much more expensive than W&M (at in-state rates) but claim to cover 100% of demonstrated financial need. George Washington and American U also have strong programs, and are less selective than Georgetown or Tufts, but their average need-based aid awards are not as generous.

I have three schools on the top of my mind and all three are very expensive since they’re private; Georgetown, SAIS (John Hopkins) and Fletcher School (Tufts). I think Columbia University has a great IR program too but once again expensive.
IR is a great field, its interesting and hardly ever boring since something is always happening in some part of the world. Have you learned any foreign language? If yes it would help you get admission. Have you lived abroad or traveled abroad? These sort of things make you a favorite applicant of IR schools, etc.
The thing about these schools is that not everyone who gets in can afford them, so a majority of them are receiving some sort of financial aid. So look for ways to finance your studies. Look for scholarships as well. These schools have generous donors and have a lot of money to give. So just don’t give up because these schools are expensive.
