Good luck ed class of 2013!

The Early Decision deadline was an hour ago (the official kickoff of the admissions season), and I just wanted to wish the class of 2013 the best of luck. The class of 2012 is so excited to greet the more fortunate of you this spring and then again next fall. Just by glancing at some of the "Chances" threads, I can tell that you guys are going to be another 'Best Class Ever'.

Unfortunately, this means that some of you who would have been qualified to be accepted not even a few years ago might not get the fat envelope this year. It is going to be a long and difficult month and a half regardless of the outcome. For me at least, it was an emotional roller coaster that ended up in a deferral and then an ultimate acceptance. No matter how hard it gets, remember to keep that focus on your school work and to savor the last year with your high school friends. This also requires you to step up and be there for your friends when things aren't going so well.

If it were up to me, I'd accept many more of you than we currently do. But, Admissions claims we don't have enough space to have you all. (Who are they kidding... have you SEEN the Fahey-McLane dorms?) So, I'll leave you with an article written by a Dartmouth alum and former admissions officer with a title that you will probably hear more times than you care for over the next month and a half:

Seriously though, good luck to everyone. College IS as amazing as everyone says it is.

Thank you! :)

wait wait, 12s are still the best class ever. some guy from our class actually touched the fire. 13s have some livin-up to do, but for now, NO talk of 12s relinquishing the title 'best class ever'

hehe lol .

Are you talking about the two guys who were so drunk they fell in after it died down a bit? Because I doubt anyone could have gone within 5 feet of the fire without bursting into flames while everyone was still running around it.

i heard it was one kid, and his hand got burnt pretty badly.

yeah, no way in h*ll anyone could've touched it while the fire was actually still a bonfire.

I'll run THROUGH the fire if I get into Dartmouth and end up going there.

I'll be a legend.

lol woops I didn't apply ED...why am I in this thread.

I will do anything if I get in. When I sent in my application, I made a pact with God- I'll wear green every day for the rest of my life if I can go to Dartmouth. Seriously.

LMAO. yeah, say that now. i would like to see you run through that fire.

^well when you hear about the girl who ran through the fire, you'll know it was that crazy girl from college confidential.

Only one '12 rushed the field, as opposed to six '11s last year, so I'm fairly sure you guys are still the worst class ever. Don't worry, it's only a year till you see some '13s.

I was at last year's homecoming. There were not 6 people who rushed the field.

Shh... next year we're telling the 13's that 6 of our kids rushed the field. Don't let up the game just yet.

yeah, i sure hope you guys werent lying to freshmen about alumni bailing out the 'rushers' who get caught and fined

If you haven't yet read it, I bring up this thread because Dartmoose's link to the forbes article at the top is worth the read... especially right now a mere week before ED decisions come out.

S doesn't really fit smoothly into any of the categories mentioned, so... I think keeping the "it's not personal mantra" in the forefront will be crucial.
