So my other account was herosaurus but I cannot log back onto it for some reason.
I just want to wish everyone luck on decision day. i remember it a year ago and how nervous i was but the rush excitement right when i saw i got in! College has been full of rejections but you realize that everything happens for a reason so if you do not get into UF, don’t beat yourself up because youll still end up at an amazing school (or youll go to fsu lol). If anyone wants to ask me questions about housing, social life, academics, anything please message me or just ask here! Im a current first year and could not be happier! I am so proud to be a gator and wish you all the best of luck! Go Gators!
How’s the housing? I don’t really like the idea of sharing a bathroom with my floor but it’s the cheapest option I’m also wondering what the social life is like I’m not planning on rushing. Thanks
@glen33 so the housing isnt bad at all. I live in a suite but most of my friends are in traditional and the bathroom isnt an issue for them at all. They never have to wait to shower or use the bathroom and everyone is really nice plus the bathrooms are cleaned daily. Also the social life is great and im not in greek life. I did, however, start in summer B and that was definitely helpful for meeting people. If youre not social, start in fall, and dont put yourself out there then its definitely likely that youll feel lonely but its like that at every school. Its important to make friends on your floor and try to meet people on campus. I highly highly highly reccomend summer B for the social aspect. like 95% of my friends are from summer B and even though a lot of them went greek i still hang out with them all the time! People always say join clubs, but thats BS in my opinion. If you actually want to meet people, joining a club that meets twice a month wont help. Its important to join something meaningful that keeps with you others constantly like cicerones or greek life or something like that. Overall, dont stress about not being greek but its definitely important to go out and meet people.
Hi Herosaurus! Are you still pre-med? One of the concerns of Aspiring Pre-meds everywhere is if they will be able to keep up the grades they need for medical school at a tough institution like UF. What’s your opinion on that?
I am actually pre- PA, which means nothing except i take anatomy and physiology instead of physics but YES!!! So many people hear horror stories of being pre med at uf but i can assure you that if you get in, you can do it! I took chem 1 in the fall and am taking calc1 and bio 1 right now. Although the classes will test you and the professors may try to trick you, if you truly want to go into the medical field, you can do it. People here are not competitive and classes are not graded on a curve that will hurt you. There are so many resources here to help you, so if youre willing to put in the work, you will receive the grades you need for the medical field. Sometimes I think that maybe if i went to a smaller state school i could be doing better, but UF has all you need to be so successful that I wouldnt want to struggle through gen chem anywhere else! Please do not make a college decision based on a potentially easier pre med path because in the end, no one wants a doctor that took the “easy” way out. @Trisherella
@20177588 my daughter (a junior in HS right now) is interested in UF’s PA school. She told me that there are only 60 spots. Do you know how many apply? Do students typically take a gap year to meet the 2000 hour requirement?
