Good matches for me?

I’m going into my senior year and am applying for computer science. This is my current list:

MIT

Carnegie Mellon (I’ve been told to consider this as a safety by numerous people, some of whom attend currently)

Princeton

Cornell

Stanford

CalTech

Berkeley

Rutgers (Safety)

I am from NJ and would like to stay within a day’s driving distance, so I’m not exactly sure why I have those CA colleges on there, but in my head I’m thinking “If I get into one of those 3 and the choice is CA or Rutgers, I’ll go to CA”.

As you can see, all my schools are either reach or safety - I don’t really have match. I was wondering if I could get some suggestions for matches for me.

Here is some info to help (nothing from senior year):

Could I please get some suggestions on good matches for me that are prestigious in computer science and preferably like a day’s driving distance from NJ?

Thanks a lot.

Carnegie Mellon is NOT a safety for CompSci. THe SCS is EXTREMELY competitive.

I think Stevens is a really good match/safety for you, just from looking at your stats.

also i hear stevens has a lot of hot girls lulzzzzzzzz, so that’s always good.

bump.

i wasn’t really considering cmu as a safety for myself, but thats just what people have told me.

looks like you have all the elite engineering schools on your list. if anything just add one more safety and one more match school. I think CMU is a match for you.

RPI, U. of Rochester, VA Tech, GA Tech (stretching the one-day away rule), WPI, Maryland, Tufts, Skidmore, Stevens Tech, to name a few.

You should definitely look at the University of Maryland…They’re renowned for their computer science department, it’s a safe driving distance from New Jersey, and you’d certainly get in and most likely be offered a place in the Scholars or Honors programs with merit aid.

UNC, UVa, Michigan
