good medium-sized schools

So, my GPA is about a 3.9 unweighted, I got a 2080 on my SAT I (610M 670V 800W), and I want to major in an English-related field--my dedication to writing is apparent in my course selection, scores, and grades. I also have, on SAT IIs, a 630 Math IC, 730 Bio, 700 French, and 700 US History. I'm taking the SAT I again to get the math up, hopefully. I have strong ECs (work experience, lots of leadership, 3 sports teams, 500+ volunteer hours), 4 AP credits (all 5's), have taken a number of Honors courses, and I come from a small private school in SoCal that doesn't rank. I will have strong rec's, great essays, and I believe I will impress in an interview.

I'm looking for a medium sized (around 5,000-15,000) school in a suburban or urban setting, or at least in a quaint college town.

These are some of the colleges I'm interested in, in (more or less) descending order of selectivity:

Brown
Duke
Tufts
UVA
Vanderbilt
Emory
Boston College
Tulane
University of San Diego
University of Puget Sound
University of California - Santa Barbara

I'm looking for a school with lots of school spirit (good athletics a plus), a work-hard/play-hard attitude, and a lot to do in campus and in the town. With my stats, and knowing what I want, does anyone have any suggestions (reach/match/safety) that match my criteria? I'm open to any part of the country, even out of the country. :)

Dartmouth, UNC, Penn, UMichigan, errrr yeah

Does Brown really have good sports? I wouldn't know. During days-on-campus the people I talked to tend to prefer things like saving the environment...hehehe

You might also want to consider Univeristy of Miami. They have good programs, great climate and great school spirit with fabulous sports teams. Check out Wash U St Louis too for writing.

Northwestern--good writing programs, Big 10 sports, outskirts of Chicago.

famous writing programs at U of Iowa and Middlebury. Also, Kenyon, but it is small. Iowa is big. Middlebury might be the best match.

Consider Wake Forest

Southern California

University of Richmond - may be a little on the small side of 5000, but a beautiful campus, strong academics, easier to get into than Duke, Vandy, etc.

Wake Forest and William and Mary would also fit your criteria.

Tulane has zero school spirit

WAKE FOREST- people should really start paying this school attention, although it would prolly be considered small(4k undergrads).
