Is anyone going to apply for AISS accelrated…something something science! Rofl xD
Its Like taking all the basic sciences in 1 year!
I wonder how compettive it is to get into AISS…I would love to get rid of basic science classes because AP credit only counts as electives ~.~ wahh totally killed my dreams of testing out of the basic boring classes!

It is a bummer about the AP credits. But no, I’m not applying for it since I’m not going into the sciences. Honestly though, if you get in ED, I don’t think it should be too difficult to get into AISS. I haven’t heard much about it though, so I don’t know for sure. Just, if you get in, call Scripps and talk it all out with them. It sounds like a really good program for what you want to do.

Yeah, I’m not really a science-science person, if you know what I mean? AISS is probably not for me then But even if I was, I want a pretty balanced course selection for each quarter I definitely want to take pottery my first semester, something relaxing! Even though my interests are pretty specific right now, I want to really explore everything for my first year!

oh, college819, yes! it would be so much fun to do some sort of simulation and you said that if worldwarme gets in ED, it shouldn’t be hard to get in AISS. is that suggesting that it’s more difficult to get in ED… O-O

Haha well, the thing is, I don’t really know. But I just assume that once you’re in a school and you’re going into the sciences, getting into a science program usually isn’t as bad as getting into the school itself. But, it depends on the program. So really, I’m just spouting out a bunch of vague educated guesses :P

But yes, it would! How did you get interested in bioethics specifically?

Yeah, I guess you’re right!

Well, there are a bunch of factors that got me interested in bioethics. I guess it started in middle school, doing mock trials about the issues like stem cell research and abortion. Then, when I reached high school I started doing internships at UCSD in research and shadowed a person in that line of work. I just find it all very thought-provoking.

How did you get interested in psychology?

Oh, that’s really cool. That’s so lucky that you were able to do internships at UCSD. And it is really thought-provoking! My Dad and I were talking last night about moral dilemmas and inconsistencies, in reference to this link especially: [Philosophy Experiments](http://www.philosophyexperiments.com/)

Well, my parents were both got their PhDs in Psych, so I’ve sort of grown up with that interest. Really, just talking with my Dad and later reading works in Psychology is mainly what did it. Right now I’m leaning towards Clinical Psychology but, as you know, I’m also really interested in research in Psychology :)

Wow, that website is great! Shall distract me from my thoughts of the notification

But that’s so great to have been exposed since you were so young. You’re really going to be able to see yourself progress, and your parents are going to be able to see how far you’ve come. My parents would rather me go the science-science route like my older brother. He would have never gone to, or thought about going to a small LAC, but that’s basically my whole college list…

Haha good! Yeah, it’s definitely been a good distraction for me too :)

Yeah, it has helped having their support and our mutual interest in it. But don’t worry about your older brother. My brother is the exact same way: went to KU for engineering, now has a very practical, good job. But siblings are different, that’s all there is to it. Obviously the sciences do often bring in more money, but if you’re not passionate about it, you’re not passionate about it.

Anyway, I think being an Ethics Consultant will be great for you. It’s so specific and you’ve had so much exposure to it already that I don’t think you should have any issues getting a great, fulfilling job :)

Yeah, that’s true. I don’t think I would be able to handle being a science major… But, thanks! I bet through your parents, you’ve already made great connections in the psychology field, and definitely won’t have a problem getting a great job. :)

Well…about that. My parents actually don’t even work in Psychology now (for various reasons), so their connections are slim to none. But that’s okay! Hard work and perseverance shall reward me in the end I’m sure…hopefully :)

Are you in San Diego? You’re lucky that you live so close to Scripps. I’m feeling a bit nervous about being that far from home :/.

Well, I’m sure you’ll make those connections yourself then! :)

Yeah, I’m in San Diego, which is a good and bad thing. I mean, I’m scared about Scripps wanting geographic diversity… Ellen Browning Scripps was from San Diego, though… so maybe they have an inclination towards San Diegans! I don’t know, that’s kind of far fetched. But, yeah… it’ll be good to be close enough to go home often! But, I honestly wouldn’t mind it if Scripps was in another state, because I love the school!

Did you do an alumni interview?

Haha thanks, I hope so!

Well, more than 40% of Scripps students are from California, so you are far from alone! There are so many Californian applicants that I don’t think they would discriminate against you for that. I am hoping that my being from Kansas will help though, but I’m not sure.

I actually didn’t :(. I’m really nervous that that will hurt my chances. This summer I was in Scotland for a creative writing program, and it was hard to go before the Dec. 16th deadline. I should have found a way though. Did you?

Hopefully you’re right! I think being from Kansas could possibly help you! I don’t know how much, but I know it’s a factor.

Yeah, I interviewed on campus, but I don’t think it’s going to hurt your chances as much as it would if I didn’t interview, since I live so close, they’d have probably though I just didn’t care enough to, you know? But since you live far, they can’t really hold it against you. One of Pomona’s admissions representatives was quoted saying that if you live in Southern California, you better get yourself to campus to interview, or have some sign that you tried to. I don’t know how similar Pomona and Scripps’ admission processes are, but here’s the article:

Now that the weekend is over…I’m back to worrying and thinking about scripps!
Dude! Its crazy this week we will know if we will be going to scripps!!!
Wah! I have so much excitment
I keep going Over my app and regretting…
Ahzz I sent 3 teacher recs is that bad!
My essay has one comma mistake :o okmgzzzajiq rofl
I just need to take a deep breath and breathe xD. And froget about scripps decision

Haha, I’m anxious too. I’m hoping that Scripps only says that the decisions are sent out at the end of the day so applicants aren’t calling them throughout the day asking if they’ve been sent out. That way, the office is closed and people can’t call! Maybe… ahaha. I want it to come… NOW. (If it’s an acceptance.)

Thanks, I hope so.

I know!! I’m getting so anxious. My best bet is that we’d hear today, since they usually try for a couple days earlier, but I can’t even process that we’ll all know so soon…

Fingers crossed for all of us…:/

okay, so… in my portal the admission tab is missing now… i wonder what that means 'cause i still get into it… i wonder if that means i’m in :o or it means nothing… sigh.

WOAH mines is missing too!
maybe its REALLY coming today
I wonder…if missing tab is normal
or if its like reject or accept AHZZ im going crazy
College819 is yours missing an admissiont tab?

I still have an admissions tab…but I don’t know if that’s bad or not. It just seems funny though…aren’t they supposed to be sending emails? Now that’s going to make us all really paranoid.
