So...
I'm talking about nerdy as in people who understand Zork references, can have good conversations on metaphysics, love Star Trek, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, etc. Not people who study and don't have any fun, but not necessarily people who play video games 24/7 and don't go outside. I just want to be somewhere that I can find friends with some similar interests to me.
Of course the school doesn't have to be all those people (that would be boring), but if you or someone you know has gone somewhere that has an imaginative, nerd-friendly population, let me know.
Thanks =)

You should definitely check out the University of Chicago, students tend to be characterized by their quirky nerdiness. If the admitted students weekend and the Class of 2016 FB page are indicative of anything, I can attest to that stereotype. I know I’m taking my D&D dice :).

I was thinking about U of Chicago for precisely that reason (besides for the fact that it’s a great school), but my dad said that Chicago is too dangerous…so unless anyone knows anything that I could show them to make them think other wise, I probably won’t be applying. Enjoy playing D&D without me…
=(
Thanks for the answer anyway!

I think your question is too general, you will find people like that just about anywhere. Tufts for example, has the following clubs: Strategic Gaming Society, Super Smash Bros. Society, The Anime Brigade etc. among their over 200 clubs.
I do suspect there are larger percentages of those people at really selective schools that are especially intellectual (e.g. Swarthmore) and/or tech-y schools.

I understand, my mother was also very worried about the safety issue. The university maintains it’s own private police that runs constant patrols and has guards throughout campus at all hours. They even offer to escort you to other parts of campus. Here’s a link to the daily crime reports: [UCPD Daily Incident Reports | The University of Chicago](http://www.uchicago.edu/php/safety/incidentReports.php).

It’s been a while since I went through those, but the majority of the crimes that I remember seeing had to do with bike theft and people having phones/laptops stolen after leaving them unattended. I compared these to the daily reports of another university not considered to be in a dangerous area and there weren’t any real differences.

Nerdy colleges that DDs liked: Carleton, Lewis and Clark, Macalester, Reed.

My nerd loves the University of Rochester. He feels like he’s found his people. His dorm hall is themed after The Big Bang Theory.

@Creekland
I’m already thinking about Rochester. Visited a month ago. Sounds good!

@Erin’s Dad
I’m really liking Carleton from what I’ve seen of it, Macalester sounds good but I don’t care for their computer science department, Lewis and Clark and Reed are unfortunately too far

@PMCM18
Thanks!

I would try Emerson in MA. Very artsy school.

hendrix college
haverford
u of chicgao

Brandeis was a good fit for our next-door-neighbor who had many of these interests.
