Starting this fall, all incoming doctoral students in Northwestern's School of Music will receive full tuition waivers.

The new policy will make NU one of three schools in the U.S. to provide full tuition to doctor of music students. The others are the Juilliard School and the Yale School of Music.

what a waste. i just had a conversation with my friend... give these scholarships to engineers, people who are going to bring up the school statistics and be able to donate money back to the school in a few years. The average starting salary out of the music school is something like $29,000.

most music students i know support themselves by private tutoring (which does not happen to pay any tax)
so thats probably the reason as to why the starting salary is so low.

elsijfdl, that's a very arrogant thing to say . . . And like hXcSTL said, their lower starting salary is exactly WHY they're given full tuition.
