I am a broke kid with stellar grades, ecs, test scores… I have quit the application process of every school I have applied as I do not have a document (I would keep the name of that piece of paper confidential) for me to apply for financial aid. Fine, that’s fate. Congratulations for outperforming me financially if you receive an acceptance letter on 9th March
@Groundwork2022 The OP is/was applying to prep schools.
I think OP is talking about prep school admissions & is not an undocumented student, from what I can tell. I am not sure what document he/she refers to, though. The PFS is used for boarding school financial aid, but international students are typically not eligible for financial aid for U.S. boarding schools (although I am sure some do offer it). Perhaps the document is a green card? Not sure.
I am very sorry, OP. I understand the broke part, for sure. It’s made the process so much more difficult.
Good luck in your future endeavors.
Are you still referring to the fact that you couldn’t get your transcript submitted in time?
@NoJumpJustHum Sounds like you are knocking it out of the park at your current highly-select school in HK. Good luck for the rest of the year!
LOL! I was trying to figure out if OP meant Boston State or Bridgewater State.
OP, with stellar grades, ECs and test scores, you’re going to do fine without that prep school.
@Groundwork2022 wow Boston State – now that’s dating yourself:)!
Yes, the good old days! I grew up not far from there.
@BSL1199 No. I don’t have the tax form, nothing bout the transcript.
@CavsFan2003 indeed, it hampers me. Even if I got admitted with financial aid, I could not attend it as the ambassador would most likely deny my student visa application(I don’t have tax forms!) Best of luck in the application process!
Most students in this county do not go to prep school and become quite successful. It’s not in the cards for everyone but the good news is there is opportunity for all no matter where you go to high school.
@Empireapple I ain’t a janissary of predestination, but I have to confess to that, regardless of the need-blind policy of some schools, they are still for some, not for all.
NoJumpJustHum…ins’t that life? Nothing is for all. I was taught hard work is what will get you where you want to go and even then it might not always go the way you plan or hope. Nobody is owed anything.
Ha, or else a kid from united nation’s refugee camp can enter Andover
If a kid from a refugee camp actually applied to Andover I bet they would be a strong candidate. What an amazing amount of determination that kid would need to get an application in. Sometimes these schools are looking for that kid who can overcome circumstances which cause most kids to give up.
@dogsmama1997 That…and I’m sure that kid has a pretty good story and would add a lot of diversity and perspective.
Most of these schools, I think, would fight for an applicant they believed in through extenuating circumstances. At the very least, it may be worth a call. I don’t know anything about your situation though, so I may be way off.
@dogsmama1997 @coppii Private education is a business, would you like to suffer a loss of over 60000 for an INTERNATIONAL applicant as a businessman?
I don’t even have the required documents to apply for financial aid and student visa.
