I’m wondering if it might be a good idea to have my son send his grades for this quarter ( he is on semesters) (all A’s…2AP’s 1 Honors, 1 regular class) , as UNC considers the waitlist. I know they won’t go to the waitlist until after May 1, but his final grades won’t be in until June 19th, which might be too late if they are to consider his senior year grades.

DO you think this might help him move up on the wait list?
Thanks…

It sure can’t hurt. If his school college counselors will do so, ask them if they would make a call on his behalf letting admissions know that if he is admitted he will attend, if that is the case of course. Yield is still very important and this year I don’t think any school has a real clear picture of what their yields will be like.

Last year, they started calling kids soon after the May 1 deadline. I believe my daughter got her phone call on May 4, but didn’t reach the admissions person until May 6. They kept trading phone calls, and he would never leave a specific message. It was frustrating for her, but we suspected it was good news. I think you all will start hearing really soon.
