Good (not elite) schools for business?

Preferably in/close to a major metro area.

Thanks.

How about Boston College’s Carroll School of Management. It is “good” without the dubious distinction of being among the “elite” – you know the kind that have spawned the current Wall St. crowd.

Ask Harry Markopolos, MS Finance. How “good” is he?!

There are many choices such as Baruch College in NY, University of Maryland, Towson University, Bentley University, Babson College, and many more.

Here’s what I do, and I would suggest it for a lot of posts on this site. Get a LinkedIN account and join several groups that interest you. Search within those groups for job titles or degrees that you want, and/or companies you want to work for, and see what they have. You’ll see that companies like Bain, Boston, and McKinnsey have a lot of ivy league, mostly ivy league. However, move west and you so large consulting companies pick up Yale and Duke guys too (no idea why Yalies move west). However, there are mid-tier and private local schools that get a lot of looks by larger company’s regional offices or find very nice jobs at good companies. Also, check out individual’s career progressions. This should help with career and education strategy.
