Good--Not Great--Computer Science schools?

I want to major in CS, but unfortunately the only schools I'm finding are the obvious--MIT, Stanford, CMU, Caltech, etc.--huge state schools, and small liberal arts colleges that charge a fortune. The first group is reach, for obvious reasons, the second I wish to avoid like the plague, and the third is nice, but I'd like a choice of technical and liberal arts schools to choose from.

Are there any technical schools (or at least liberal arts schools well-known for their CS programs) that would fall more into the midrange-safety area? I'm not finding any.

A couple to throw out... SMU in Dallas, Cal Poly -SLO, Vanderbilt, Wake Forest, COlorado COllege in CSprings, Tulsa (private school) Ok, Univ of Evansville, Indiana....

These are great schools but have a tech bent Rose-Hullman, Rice, Ga Tech, Washington U in STl, Pittsburg (might be public) MArietta Col in Ohio--not sure about CS program
