Good Online Course for AP Macro/Micro?

I want to give the AP Macro and Micro exams in 2011, but I don't just want to rely on the 5 Steps/PR book. What online AP courses are good for AP Macro and Micro besides CTY (prohibitively expensive).

I know there has been talk about using Mankiw's Principle of Economics to prep. How effective is that and is there some place I can get a lesson plan so I can teach myself?

Principles of Economics by Mankiw = great foundation, but a lot of extra info.
Princeton Review = very informative, but succinct.

I recommend using Principles of Economics by Mankiw to give you a good foundation in economics. Read the first 5 to 10 chapters where everything is really generalized and is applicable to both macro/micro. After that I would take your desired prep book and see what topics the AP Macro + AP Micro cover. From there I recommend learning from your prep book and if you have any trouble with topics use Principles of Economics.

I took AP Macro + AP Micro last year and received a 5 on both exams.
PM if you have any questions about books, problems, or a good study schedule.

That’s what we need, advertisements. I would have done a “^^”, but then it wouldn’t make sense when the post was deleted.

I think Florida Virtual School has AP Macro and Micro, but I don’t know how much it is for Out of State students.

What about 5 Steps to a 5 for Macro/Micro? How good is that in comparison to PR? And how necessary is a textbook? My school system doesn’t teach either economics class, so I’d probably have to go out an buy a textbook, which is quite expensive.

You may find an old edition of Principles of Economics by Mankiw at your local library. A textbook is not necessary if you already have a great foundation in economics. It just helps reinforce concepts if you use a wordier textbook. I found all the “prep books” brief to the point where I decided to venture out and buy Principles of Economics.

It really depends on the person. Probably with just using PR; I probably would of gotten a 4 on both exams, but with Principles of Economics I know I received a high 5. (haha hi 5 :)).

I’m just using Principles of Economics and PR as examples that worked successfully for me. Go by Barnes & Noble / public library and see which books you prefer.

PR+ 5 steps was enough for me to get a 5 on Micro, so a textbook was probably not needed at all.

I think it’s about 500 bucks in flvs for any course. but macro in flvs is really good.

Friend of mine took AP Micro from Michigan Virtual HS and got a 5, I’ll probably just stick with a textbook and prep book though.
