Guild Wars
Civilization IV
World of Warcraft

That covers most of them

Soldier of Fortune 2 Gold is the best shoot em up game, im talkin about online multiplayer mode. The only problem is that the game is now dying and its not clear if a sof3 is going to come out.

lemonade tycoon
halo
civ III:conquests
battlefied:all of then
and the ones listed above
Madden 2006

Half-Life 2 (best single-player game I have ever played)
Counter-Strike: Source (best multi-player game I have ever played)
Battlefield 2 (good multiplayer action but it lags unless you have a really good connection/pc)
Madden 2006 (THE essential sports game)
Poker Games (Party Poker, Royal Vegas Poker, etc.)

for something different (at least in comparison to those listed) try Gunbound. It's free too. I thought it was really stupid at first, but now I'm sort of hooked. I have a lot of friends who play it when they need a break from Counter-Strike. Morrowind is pretty amazing as well. I think its sequel, Oblivion, is out (or it might be coming out pretty soon).

goin to buy two games

mmorpg:
shooting (no CS):

World of Warcraft is widely seen as the best MMORPG available right now.
Are you looking for a multiplayer or singleplayer FPS?

http://www.gunzonline.com

Go to this website and download this FREE multiplayer shooter. ITS AWESOME. Need a decent PC and and atleast DSL for internet, otherwise you lag and make everyone else lag to.

MMO: World of Warcraft or Guild Wars
FPS: Half-Life 2 or F.E.A.R

X3: Reunion just came out, which looks like an awesome space sim game.

HAHAHA major cracking up

I just remembered Gunbound.

I second what Jusgimmethegun said about it. The game's completely free, got a ridiculously simple premise, and yet can be played with amazing skill. Remember that wonderful 2-D game "Worms"? Gunbound is that with a whoooole lot more weapons, psychedelic colors and maps, and funky little animals that you use as tanks. Hard to explain really.

I was hooked for half of junior year. It's dangerously addictive, and basically the best way to procrastinate on anything. Haven't played in six months, and have no intention of continuing, but I have a pretty high ranking account sitting around somewhere. Seemed a waste to delete it.

I'm going through a retro phase, and playing all those old LucasArts adventure games over again.

SCUMM for life!

www.virtualapple.com
the ultimate in retro pc gaming!

What would you say are the best RTS games?

Starcraft, Warcraft III, Command and Conquer (this shows my age), AoE, Rome...

Starcraft. Period.

gxing,

Sorry, but nothing will ever beat C&C.

Half-Life 2 / Counter-Strike:Source / Day of Defeat:Source (one purchase)

...all I can think of at the moment. I haven't bought any PC games in a while. Come to think of it, there haven't been any great releases lately--the PC games industry is slacking.
