Good places to study during Finals/Midterms Week

During finals/midterms weeks, the study lounges are all full, and I'm assuming Powell's packed. I can't study in my room either cause my roommate doesn't seem to know what turning off the music means. Any good quiet places to study without too many people?

YRL
Biomedical Library
2nd Floor of Kerckhoff (kinda busy but not as congested as say, Powell)

YRL for the win!

Try the engineering/science libraries too. They are quiet, cool, and lonely, unlike Powell which is hot and crowded. However, there isn't a place to study past 11pm other than Powell :(

law library...

YRL! It's haunted though :(.

Management Library is great, and closest to the Hill (I think.)

Oh yeah, the management library is really good too. I prefer YRL simply because its nice and cold. Although, when I forget to bring a jacket, I hate YRL for extended periods of time!

there's a girl on my floor who ALWAYS is studying in the hallway. literally sitting against the wall by her door with all her notebooks. i wouldn't like people stepping over me all the time...

you can reserve study rooms in the dorms, or hang out in the computer labs where it's supposed to be quiet. kerckhoff is nice too but not if you don't get a chair or couch lol...

I used to write papers in the middle of the night in the hallways of De Neve. My roommates were uber sensitive to typing and well, I type 100-110wpm and so, I was nice and well, found more comfort outside anyway. 10-pages and 100wpm is really loud.

yah but de neve had fewer people traversing the halls. you could sit for hours without being stepped over.

summit has a lot of traffic, even at the end of the hall...

I really like YRL...just recently discovered it...it's nice and quiet and there are some crazy books on the third floor

some downsides though: feels like Antarctica, I got lost in the bookshelves for like 10 mins, I can't find stairs that go to 3rd floor only small rickety elevators

and despite all that, it's still the best :)

those elevators are SCARY.
seriously, if there was a UCLA horror movie, it'd take place in YRL with most of it featuring the elevators.

shudders

YRL is so creepy. I search for journal articles etc. through UCLA's resources/UCLAWLAN before plowing through books at YRL.

v I agree with Liyana. I ran home (dorm) screaming at 9:30pm after borrowing a few Russian books from YRL. I wanted to cry... and then Liyana nuzzled me and it was OK. <3 MOM!

YRL is a great place to study BUT its so far away from the dorms
there needs to be a YRL like next to the dorms

and i dont see why people even bother w/powell, its distraction central

my room

. . .

I don't ever get distracted at Powell, but my biggest gripes with Powell is that it's really hot, stuffy and crowded. YRL would be perfect if it wasn't a freezer. I study after class, so the distance isn't a problem.

the laundry room, man. do the laundry room on the weekdays. i love the white noise and the lack of talking in there. it's good if you don't mind the noise of the machines or people coming in and out.

that's just me (:

zomg. it's thesuperjlai!!!! you're soooo coooooll!

^ haha that's what I do everytime I do laundry. Too bad there aren't any chairs though.

summit laundry room has tables you can sit on, against the windows. It's nice :)
