Hello,
I was wondering what would be some good political science schools. My high school GPA is around 3.2 and my ACT composite is 33. I have looked at places like Georgetown and George Washington, but I wanted to know what schools I have a better chance of getting into (like safety schools).

Your gpa is going to hurt your chances at schools like georgetown. What is your weighted gpa. How much will your parents pay. Safeties don’t usually give great need aid. But some give merit.

American U would be a good possibility–good polisci, gives merit aid, and also in DC.

might consider;
U of Minnesota (pretty much the most underrated school ever)
Wisconsin
Indiana university
Pitt
and if you want one near DC:
George mason (excellent reputation in the DC area)
UMD college park

Indiana University-Bloomington (safety)
Michigan State University (safety)
Ohio State University (safe match)
University of Minnesota-Twin Cities (safe match)
University of Rochester (reach)
University of Washington (match)
University of Wisconsin-Madison (match)

Amercan isn’t likely going to give merit for a 3.2 gpa. And those suggested oos publics won’t work unless the family will pay the oos costs.

The OP never mentioned anything about scholarships or the need for financial aid. He merely shared his academic credentials and asked for universities with strong Political Science departments, preferably safeties.

At any rate, all of the publics I listed are significantly cheaper than private universities. The most expensive of the schools on my list are IU and MSU, both of which cost a full $10,000-$15,000/year less than AU or GWU. Minnesota would cost $20,000/year less. OSU, UDub and Wisconsin would be somewhere in between.

George Mason
Maryland- College Park
American
Pitt
Rutgers

University of Rochester is definitely a high reach.

The OP never mentioned anything about scholarships or the need for financial aid.

I was responding to Hornetdad…not the OP.

A 3.2 GPA is not going to make any of these schools a safety.

West Virginia University.

also Syracuse
