Hi! So I’m currently looking at colleges (just a little bit). I’m doing a basic preliminary search so I will not have EFC/SAT/ACT/GPA information really. I’m just looking into colleges with this certain criteria.
• I’m interested in majoring in political science
• Looking into more medium sized schools (3,000-15,000)
•West Coast and Northeast schools preferred (however, if there are good programs in other regions, I would love to hear about them)
• GPA
My cummulative overall is so far a 3.6
•Will be enrolling in the iB Diploma program
Virtually all research universities and liberal arts colleges have political science (a.k.a. government) departments, or something similar. Often a good place to start is with your state’s flagship university (or system). If it’s too large or otherwise not what you’d prefer, then try to narrow down your other preferences. Here are few small to mid-sized, moderately selective private schools you might want to check out:
American University
Brandeis University
Clark University
Occidental College
George Washington University
University of Rochester
With a 3.6 (unweighted) average, some of these may be reach schools for you (depending on your test scores, course rigor, class rank, etc.)
Run the online net price calculators on any schools that interest you. Figure out the net price your family can afford. Unless money isn’t an issue at all, try to develop a cost-management strategy focusing on low sticker prices, need-based aid, merit grants, or some combination.
Macalester, Kalamazoo
Northeastern has solid PolySci and a co-op program making it easy to work in DC. All good recs above as well.
