Hi! I am new to CC and I'm looking for advice on Pre-Med Schools. What are some good reputable premed programs at private schools? I'm looking at private schools because of the small size, state schools are way to big for my taste. Please, no Ivies, it is an impossibility with my stats (3.8 GPA UW, 1750 SAT, 30 ACT). So far I have Gonzaga, Creighton, Fordham University, University of San Diego & Boston University. I would like to see more East Coast options and am open to any denomination school but I know that Jesuit schools offer well rounded education. Any advice is appreciated! Success rates is greatly appreciated as well! Thank you

Really no such thing as majoring in pre-med nor is it needed. Most pick a science and do outside volunteer work to prepare med app.

What is your budget? Most/all of those schools on your list do not “meet need”. How much will your parents pay each year?

Any good school is fine for a pre-med student. major in whatever you want.

do a search on cc for pre-med or medical school or similar. There are dozens of threads on this topic already.

Budget is not a problem, my family is a little well off, so luckily I can apply to privates. I heard that Washington schools are really good for Pre-Med but what I dont understand is that if you can choose any school you want and do fine why is it that some schools are “better” for pre med than others?

There is an entire forum for pre-med discussions. Tons of info for you there. Also search for pre-med for a list of recent discussions about “good” pre-med schools since they pop up in different forums.

I agree with all the others that you can pick a major and pretty much any school can work.

Around here, Franklin & Marshall would fit your desires as long as your folks can pay for it. They don’t offer merit aid - just need based aid. Do NOT go into debt for undergrad if you can help it. Med school is expensive.

Read the pre-med stickies starting here:

Univ of Wash has an excellent med school, however, if you’re OOS, don’t bother.

What state are you from?

You say that budget is not a problem. Is that what your PARENTS are saying? Ask them if they’ll pay $60k per year. If so, then super! Just make sure that they will pay. Many affluent parents won’t pay that much, so ASK them.
