There's a good chance I'll be in Los Angeles in a month or so for some family business, and I was thinking I might visit a couple of colleges if I end up out there. I obviously know about UCLA, but seeing as I'm from the opposite coast I don't know many of the smaller schools.

Are there any schools in and around LA that have great science/premed programs that I should take note of for my trip? Thanks.

Caltech certainly comes to mind. USC and Occidental as well. The Claremonts are a good bit further from LA proper than most think, but they may be worth a voyage out to the suburbs. LMU is a less selective option.

I know of Caltech but I think it’d bit of a longshot for me. I’ve heard good things about Occidental before, just didn’t know where it was! That might be one to check out. I’ll look into LMU too and maybe USC. Thanks for the suggestions.

If you have the grades, don’t miss Pomona - and if you’re a techie, Harvey Mudd. All part of the Claremont Consortium, mentioned above. 5 LACs adjacent to each other sharing resources so you get the small school experience with unusual breadth and depth.

^^or if you have slightly lower-than Pomona stats, look into Pitzer; if blessed with xx chromosomes, consider Scripps. The Claremonts share many upper division science classes.
