Good private colleges for real average students

What does ‘would prefer not to go to a public school’ mean?

Ii’ll give another mention for The University of Scranton. Daughter graduated from there and son is there now. It is a Jesuit school with a great sense of community. But you don’t have to be catholic to be comfortable there - we are not catholic. They offer an exploratory option for those who enter undecided on a major. The student in question might qualify for some merit money based on his scores, rank and HS record.

Two other colleges we liked are Siena College just outside Albany and Hartwick College in Oneonta.

Are you a junior? If so, your SAT I should come up. Practice and review books/courses help!

Drexel is better for business and technical majors so if the kid isn’t sure, then no, Drexel isn’t for this kid. Another great choice is James Madison. I’m ignoring the public v. private preference because it seems arbitrary and maybe if the student visited these schools he/she would have a more informed opinion.
