I'm taking the PSAT in in around two weeks ( its in october). I finished taking the three practice tests in the a 2013 Kaplan PSAT review book my older sister used last year and I'm trying to figure out what I should do now. I'm trying to aim to get a national merit scholarship, even though I know the chances are slim. On the three practice tests I took I scored a 189, 210, and then a 201. I want to take at least 7 more practice tests before the test day am probably going to buy another review book, so do you guys know any good ones (Princeton, Kaplan, ext…..)? Most review books have around 3-4 tests so right now in order to take 7 more tests I'm going to need to buy 2 review books. I heard that college board used to sell old tests for $3.00 but stopped for some reason so this sounds like my only option.

P.S. I know a lot of people say to just use the the College board blue book for the PSAT but the tests are really long and I don't know if I have enough time. I think I'd rather take a variety short PSATs then just a couple long SATs. Also if I take the test in the blue book now I won't have much to use to review for the actual SAT test, which is more important.

Barrons PSAT is pretty good.
The tests are closest to CB albeit the math is a little harder.
A 200 on a Kaplan practice test is like a 160 on real CB. Kaplan and PR are garbage and you wasted your time with those tests. They are easier than the real thing.
There are a few College board psat online if you google. 2009, 2010, 2011 that I’ve downloaded. (pdf)
McGraw hill has 5 free PSAT tests on their website. Don’t know how they compare to CB.

Wow, really? I didn’t know kaplan was that bad. So you’re saying I should try out Barrons, any other good review books besides that? Thanks for the advice.

You only have 3 weeks before PSAT.
But for the SAT.
Critical Reading - Erica Meltzer Critical Reader. Go to her website. Lots of stuff in the book is on her website.
Writing - Erica Meltzer Ultimate Guide. Go to her website. Lots of stuff in the book on her website. Be sure to study her 15 SAT grammar rules.
Math - Barrons or PWNtheSAT
Vocab - Direct Hits or PR WordSmart
Get the blue book for practice tests.

Yep, Kaplan that bad. My daughter used Kaplan & PR before sophmore PSAT and her test results were a disaster. Even their scoring table is inflated. Tests were way too easy.
In 9 months, with the books listed above, my daughter got 550 pt increase on her practice tests.

I second TomsRiverParent’s list. My child used Erica’s books, PWN the SAT for math, Direct Hits and BB for practice. He is averaging 2300+ in practice tests. BTW last year he took PSAT without preparation and scored 139(all three sections).
