Good Public Engineering School

Hi,

I am looking for good public engineering schools(electrical/mechanical/computer), preferrably in the east coast, that offer a decent financial aid to international students. So, I wanted to get everyone's opinion and choices in this matter.

Thanks a lot for helping!!

Georgia Tech

Don't know about financial aid, though.

Look into Temple.

VaTech.................Penn State

Second what Barrons said! Which state are you in?

Penn State has a great program and has nuclear engineering if you're interested; they have their own nuclear reactor lab.

thanks for your help guys.

btw, I am in New York and wanted to attend a college close by. also, looking for colleges with good electrical/mechanical/computer and maybe management.

Penn state seems like your best bet unless you don't mind living in the South.

NC State is also pretty good in engineering.

i was thinking of suny buffalo. is that good? i heard they are pretty cheap, yet good research university. plus they have scholarships for international students. what do you guys think?

Yeah, but screw their football team.

SUNY Buffalo, SUNY Binghamton, and SUNY Stony Brook are all good schools for engineering. And SUNY schools are all pretty cheap for both NY and non-NY state residents.

Texas A&M. Relatively cheap and a very good engineering school. :)

UC Berkeley
UIUC

UIUC, Michigan, Penn State, Ohio State, Duke

Duke isn't public...

Best public engineering schools in the "east" are GaTech, VaTech, Florida, NC State, Penn State, and Maryland.

Actually most people don't consider the "southeast" the east. If you look on a map GaTech is as far west as Michigan.

Duke isn't a public or particularly strong in most fields of engineering.

I also second Maryland and Penn State, both of whom have well- ranked engineering programs. However, if I were you, I would go to a NY state school. They have some good programs and they are MUCH cheaper than going out of state.

Duke makes up for what it lacks in its other engineering disciplines with Biomedical Engineering. 2nd only to Johns Hopkins (c'mon no one can compete with JHU when it comes to medicine) and part of the reason Duke is such a premed powerhouse.
