Good pure and applied math schools?

I know that schools like MIT, Stanford, Harvard, Princeton etc... are the top math undergrad schools but I was wondering if there were any schools with a strong department for slightly "worse" (Not the right word but I don't have another one) schools, especially for somebody with my stats. http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1118501-chance-me-good-pure-applied-math-schools-ill-chance-back.html

I hear
U Mich
Hopkins
Chicago are good but I don't know others.

Bump .

I’m sure by ‘worse’ you mean ‘less selective’

Yeah pretty much.

But Harvard/Caltech/MITetc… are always called the elite.

Harvery Mudd

Brown and NYU are excellent in Mathematics, particularly applied math.

Since folks on CC constantly harped on the idea that students learn more from fellow students than their profs, it may be a good idea to see where the best math students enroll. While the results vary from year to year, I see pretty much the same group taking the top ten positions year after year.

Comments?

Yeah, I’ve looked at the top Putnam teams over the years.

They’re always Harvard/MIT/Caltech/Princeton/Duke and occasional Waterloo.
None of which I can really get into.
