good reasons to go to Wash U.

i really want to go, but it's in the midwest, and i heard it's really humid.

somebody give me positives so it can offset my hate of midwest weather.

Well you're not there in the middle of the summer. I'm from the far northeast, so I hate the heat of other locations in the country. But again, I won't be there in the middle of the summer, and everything has AC anyway.

I live in St. Louis. Yes, the weather is humid and gross all summer. However, the fall and spring are absolutely beautiful. You will experience either no, or only a couple weeks of, hot weather. Winter brings temperatures most often in the teens, with occasional snow.

We are from Southern California, so weather anywhere is worse than where we are. The hottest and most humid day at Wash U was the day my son moved in last August. From that point on, the weather got cooler and less humid. They had a pretty mild winter by St. Louis standards. A little snow, but mostly just cold weather.
That being said, my son made such great friends this year. He absolutely had the best time at Wash U. He is home now, but misses his friends so much that I expect that next summer he may stay in St. Louis over the summer just to be with them, weather or not!

how about the fact that you'll get an amazing education?

My freshman/sophomore son is in St. Louis for the summer...he too loves Wash U and the friends he has met there. I have met some of his friends and now I know why he would rather be there than here (Des Moines)...another humid city. I lived in St. Louis for a few years and yes it gets hot, but every city has its bad points.
jpmom, what dorm did your son live in? My son was in Lien 1...

I'm from Southern Louisiana, so you have no clue what humid is! Just think of worser places you could be, and then St. Louis becomes a better place. Plus as someone else said earlier, its a great education!

haha, well, looking at the last two posts on here, i had to comment. i'm from louisiana, but most of my family lives in iowa. it was incredibly funny to see that des moines is considered humid by locals, considering i've spent time both there and here (baton rouge), and i have even worked outside both places. des moines seems rather dry, minus the snow in the winter. but yeah, washu all the way
