We will be there for an early move in - what are the "not miss" restaurants in near NC State?

Has anyone been to the Angus Barn - I have heard that is good, but we have not been there yet.

I haven’t been to Angus Barn but it’s a Raleigh institution so you can’t go wrong there. If you like BBQ, go to The Pit downtown.

If you like seafood, the North Carolina Seafood Restaurant is just down the road at the State Farmer’s Market (corner of Centennial Parkway and Lake Wheeler Road). It’s a casual, order at the counter type restaurant with Calabash style seafood. They will broil fish too. The Farmer’s Market is worth a visit of its own.

Big Ed’s City Market Restaurant is another breakfast institution in downtown Raleigh.

We also like the Flying Biscuit Cafe in Cameron Village.

I didn’t see this post before the trip - but we did find the Flying Biscuit - we would recommend as well! Also in that same area is Tazza Kitchen - very good. We had brunch there.

Loved Cowfish burgers and Sushi - loved this place.

And Irregardless - very nice, local spot. Live music every night. Excellent menu.

We are going to open house next week and I am looking forward to sampling the local cuisine as well.

Another not miss spot - David’s dumpling and noodle bar - we have had several meals there, both lunch and dinner. Right by the NC State campus - excellent and reasonably priced.

Open House ended up being a full day for us. Afterwards, we eat at The Pit Authentic Barbecue. The food was very good and the portions were plentyful. The nex morning we hit BoJo’s before getting on the road. My S loved the school so maybe we will get more opportunities to try the other places. The Train Depot across the street from the Pit looked interested. Are the resturants good?
