Next year I'm taking 4 AP, 1 honors, & 1 college prep class
For ECs I dance daily, I'm in NHS and two foreign language clubs at my school. I'm also a dance teacher (as a volunteer) and do a lot of community service in my town.

Any suggestions for good safety or target schools in the Northeast, preferably in New England or the Eastern part of New York? Other key criteria:
-1000 to 6000 undergrad enrollment
-preferably liberal arts
-good career services/reputation
-high acceptance rates at med school and strong biology programs
-student to facutly ratio 12:1 or lower
-I prefer rural or surburban, but wouldn't mind the city

I agree with holliesue, and it might be my first choice for the OP.

I don’t know about acceptance rates at these schools, but you might want to consider: Marist and Hobart Willliam Smith since they are in NY and the size that you are looking for. In New England you might look into Quinnipiac. Also, look into the SUNYs.

One other thing that I’d like to suggest is to consider your goals, and consider carefully why you won’t go a bit further from home if the school is a good fit otherwise. Some people cannot go far from home because of illness issues, cost of travel and so on. For others, there really aren’t any reasons to stay fairly close to home. It is just something to consider carefully, whether you change your mind, or you stick with a certain geography as a “must have” in a school.

While it’s not LAC, WPI (Worcester Poly Tech) has a good biology program and pre-med and would be a good safety, plus they give good merit aid. Being female is also a plus, as they are looking to increase women. It’s part of the Worcester area consortium, so you can take classes at other schools. (One caveat is WPI’s quarter system can make that tough.

OP, IMO your reach/match/safeties will hinge on your re-take of the SAT and ACT (they are the outlier stat) and your family’s financial situation. Get those scores up and your options change dramatically. Congrats on your outstanding rank and (in context) GPA. I expect that if you prepare as well for your re-takes as you obviously do for your classwork, you’ll be fine. ;)

I suggest you look for references to the “Xiggi method” on the SAT/ACT forums. Simple. Cheap. Effective. Good luck.

BTW, I agree that you need to broaden your geographic net. Pennsylvania and Ohio have some great schools for you to consider.

If you would consider a women’s college, hope you’ll take a serious look at Smith and Mount Holyoke. While neither of these would be considered a safety…Mount Holyoke might be a little easier based on your GPA and rigor of HS courses. Excellent dance programs at both. And, I think both are now SAT optional. Both have excellent acceptance records for medical schools and science graduate schools.

Look at Wheaton in MA and Union in NY as possible matches.
