I've been confused about college admissions every since I saw some forums where people with 1570's on the SAT were deferred by Caltech.
Here are my stats:

ACT - 29 composite
SAT - 2060 composite
620 Critical Reading
800 Math
640 Writing
Taking SAT II mathIC, IIC, and physics in June, should do very well.

4.0 GPA - Should be a little higher after the AP Physics exam is scored

Other Stuff
Boy Scouts - Senior Patrol Leader
Eagle Scout w/ Gold Palm
National Honors Society
Should be Summa Cum Laude

I tested out of 2 years of math at my high school and took Calculus I at a community college in my Junior Year on my own time (not as dual enrollment).
I plan on going into Mechanical Engineering, more in the aerospace aspect now that the car industry is dying in America. MIT is #1 for M.E., but it's very unlikely that I would get in. U of M is #2, but they don't offer much financial aid in the form of scholarships and grants. I'm not sure which colleges to look at right now, especially because there is a huge contrast in my english and math SAT scores. And no, I'm not going to retake the SAT because a 620 on the Critical Reading was higher than I had even expected.
I was thinking about someplace warm, like USC. Which colleges are good in mechanical engineering that I would stand a good chance at getting into?
