Next year I will be taking the following classes:
AP American Gov
AP Literature
AP Statistics
Photography (1 semester)
Honors Spanish 4
I have room for either AP Macroeconomics or AP Psychology; which one should I take as someone who’s interested in studying history and/or linguistics? I also have the option of taking a psych course at a community college, but it will not go into my high school gpa.
Will it hurt me if I don’t take physics or any science class senior year even if I’m not applying as a STEM major? Even regular physics is hard at our school, and I don’t want to ruin my GPA. Also, by the end of junior year, I will have taken 4 science courses, so is it okay to not take a fifth one? I’m not trying to apply to the Ivies.
Thank you!
What are the four science classes you took? Were they all a full year? Did they all have labs?
They are Bio, Chemistry, and the AP classes for both. Yes, they all had labs.
Depending on how selective the schools you are interested in are, I would suggest taking physics… that said, if you really aren’t aiming for tippy top colleges and are sure you aren’t interested in STEM, it would be better to specialize a little in an area you’re interested in. I’d suggest AP macro over AP psych, but it really comes down to what you’re more interested in.
Technically, you don’t need physics. Take classes that are going to be interesting enough to keep you working as you battle college application stress followed by senioritis.
Macroeconomics and psychology are pretty different subjects. Ask yourself, if protecting your GPA wasn’t an issue, which would you find more interesting? And take that one.
