Good schedule for senior year?

Hi, I am currently a junior and I am about to choose my classes for senior year. For junior year, I took, AP Comp, Spanish 2, Art, Physics, APUSH, and Pre-Calc. When I looked my remaining credits, I just need AP Gov and Econ so those two are mandatory (each are 1 sem long). So I have 5 other classes to choose from. I don’t need to take AP Lit for senior year because I took 2 English classes my sophomore year (Creative Writing and English Honors). I want to know if AP Lit is a good class to take because I do want to either take a second math class or a second science class. If I were to take 2 of either of the classes, I would take AP Cal AB or AP Stats. For science I was going to take AP Bio and AP Chem. I want to know if Spanish 3 is a required class for me to take. I don’t really have a passion for Spanish but for my science and math classes I do. I am thinking of majoring in Comp Sci.

You need to take an English class but it doesn’t have to be AP lit. If you took AP Lang, not many colleges give extra credit for AP lit so check your state flagship’s and target universities’ policy. If you love reading AP lit is a great class. If you don’t, well, take something else. But do take an English class. (or Humanities: philosophy, comparative literature… would work too.)

Yes Spanish 3 would be expected for any selective college (highly selective colleges would expect level 4 or AP so level3 would be seen as the Barr minimum).

Don’t take AP Bio and AP chemistry together. Both are very time intensive so even if you’re good at science you wouldn’t be able to devote enough time to each and your whole schedule would get very overwhelming quickly and tank. It’s a disaster waiting to happen.

So:
AP gov/econ
English or AP lit
AP calc
Spanish 3
AP Bio OR chem
A cs-related elective

i agree with the comment above don’t take ap bio and chem together they are both uber hard and time consuming

I see, so I won’t take the two I’ll just take one. What about either stats or calc? Why is calc better than stats? My school doesn’t have any cs-related electives.

AP stats is either a complement to a core math class or a good class for strong humanities students who can’t or won’t take Calculus.
Since you want to major in compsci (a very competitive major) and you have the opportunity to take Calculus, it’ll be expected you take it and you’ll be dinged for not taking it.

I get it so I will take ap calc but what about my elective? I have all my elective credits needed to graduate can’t I just do another math class?

Sure, you could take stats for your elective.

Is there a way you can dual enroll? Because the math you’d need experience with, for CS, would be discrete math. Ideally you could even take stats at the community college first semester, and discrete math second semester.

I’m in com studies 103 already as a dual enrollment. If I were to do stats at my local cc is it worth doing my senior year?

Yes, if you take that in addition to Calculus, not as a replacement for it.

Okay, thank you very much. I will be taking stats at my local CC.
