Good school bag/pack/backpack/messenger bag, etc

i hear a lot of good things about timbuk2 bags

I think you should just use your old highschool bag for the first few days and see what kind of books/supplies you'll need to carry around, if you'll need to carry around your laptop, if you'll need something whether-specific, and so forth, and then just buy a new one when you get there accordingly. At least thats what I'm probably going to do.

I love eBags.com. They have tons of different kinds of bags, backpacks, etc. My daughter wanted a laptop backpack so she could take her laptop to the library easily (she doesn't use it in class). She got an awesome one that she loves. She just finished her second year, and the backpack is showing no signs of wear. It is very adjustable inside for different-sized laptops, with a removable pad. It is an eBags brand and the model is Downloader. Great website -- check it out.

I strongly recommend Brenthaven; they fit my MacBook Pro (or MacBook and other laptops) perfectly, and I can fit a ton of other books and odds-and-ends in it. Built like a Mercedes-Benz, and as durable as a Toyota. You can buy them either from Brenthaven's website or from the Apple Store.

Wow! BengalMom was right! I went to eBags.com and found so many options. I first I thought I would get anything from the site, but I found the perfect backpack from CaseLogic. I would advise anyone to check out this site first, before blindly going into a store for a backpack. The site also has helpful tools to navigate your way to the perfect backpack. For example, it has tools to pick packs for a certain price range and/or color.

OniLawliet, thanks for asking this question. I was having the same problem.

Take a look at Brooklyn Industries, also.

am i the only one who uses a rolly laptop bag?

I just bought a North Face Surge backpack, and it’s amazing. It has great reviews all over the internet too.

Both of my kids (one college, one high school) have UnderArmour backbacks and love them. My daughter (college) was a big fan of messanger bags, but uses her backpack at college. She studied in the library instead of her dorm room, so she hauled books more than some students.

North Face is win.

What’s the most…durable bag? Like, I tend to just drop my bag a lot and I’ve done that with a laptop and spiffy calculator, oddly the only thing to ever brake is my mp3 screen. My bag is some off brand skateboard bag so I think the extra bottom support helps it. Still, it’s barely there right now and I need a new one.
