I want to go to a school in a big city with a good computer science/mathematics program. I have a 32 superscore on the act and a 30 one standing. 1970 on sat (hoping to raise this) and about 3.8 uw gpa and 4.1 w. I would like to go somewhere that will give me nearly a full ride because my parents make too much to qualify for financial aid. Any suggestions?

Here is a big merit scholarship shopping list:
<a href=“Automatic Full Tuition / Full Ride Scholarships - #300 by BobWallace - Financial Aid and Scholarships - College Confidential Forums”>Automatic Full Tuition / Full Ride Scholarships - #300 by BobWallace - Financial Aid and Scholarships - College Confidential Forums; (automatic, for safeties)
<a href=“Competitive Full Tuition / Full Ride Scholarships - #50 by BobWallace - Financial Aid and Scholarships - College Confidential Forums”>Competitive Full Tuition / Full Ride Scholarships - #50 by BobWallace - Financial Aid and Scholarships - College Confidential Forums; (competitive, for matches/reaches)

https://www.act.org/aap/concordance/pdf/reference.pdf suggests that your 30 ACT is equivalent to a 2000 SAT, so you may want to see if concentrating on raising the ACT will be more useful to you (since the first 30 points you may gain on the SAT won’t help you).

Thanks that’s very helpful! The only problem is I’ve taken the act 3 times and only improved by one point…in kind of just hoping to go somewhere that will accept my superscore.

Take a look at the University of Alabama. Tuscaloosa is not a big city but is a good college town. If you major in computer science there you will get full tuition + $2500 with your current test scores and grades. It is on my son’s radar initially as a safety and possibly more than a safety now. Our research as surprised us in a positive way.

Wow full tuition plus 2500? That’s amazing! I’ll definitely add that to my list as a backup. Thank you!

That’s awesome! But I’ve never been to Alabama and one of my must haves is being in a big city

WPI immediatly stands out to me. Outside of Boston, great program and would be a high match / low reach for you. Great CS department. I just reread and you probably won’t get a full ride, but you could get a good offer depending on your application as a whole. Would be worth a shot.

Cool I’ll check it out!
