I am going to be honest. I have about a 2.3 GPA. Leaving the country a couple of times along with family issues led to my GPA getting destroyed. I want to major in Computer Science and was wondering if there are any good colleges that I can get into if a get an ACT score of 29+???
What’s your current ACT score?
Are you a US citizen? I think a lot will depend on your budget and your reasons for having a low GPA. What’s your current GPA? If it’s on an upward tend that will help. But it’s tough to offer suggestions without knowing your actual stats and your budget.
My current ACT score is 24. I am not at the moment but I am a permanent resident but I will soon be a citizen. My average GPA at the moment is 2.4. I had to leave the country for a month for my sister’s wedding and that led me failing a class and doing bad in the rest. Freshman year I had severe family problems and still am going through them. I am willing to pay up to 45k as long as it is a good college.
Do you have residency in any state?

Consider waiting to attend college until your family problems have been resolved. College is expensive and you want to able to focus, consistently attend class and get good grades.
Look into U Minnesota Duluth and Morris…they both have CS, but I’m not sure of the average admitted stats for that major. You might also consider community college for a year or two.
Good luck.
Things have started to get better, I am thinking about going to UM Duluth and then transferring to UM Twin Cities after semester 1 but the thing is that I need to have a GPA of 3.2 or higher for the first semester and I don’t know how that will be as I haven’t experienced a college class yet. I’m just afraid that if I don’t then I will be stuck their and UMD isn’t considered a very good school by my family but the UM Twin Cities is
Make sure that you can fully concentrate on your classes before you start at any college or university. You should be sure that you will not need to leave school for even a full day, never mind longer than that. If anyone else is going to get married, then either they get married when your classes are not in session, or you do not attend the wedding. Make sure that any personal distractions or issues have been resolved.
College and university are full time commitments.
However, there is no hurry on starting college. Life is not a race. Students that start university a year or two older are often better students.
Going to community college will assist you with getting you GPA up to the required 3.2, you can then transfer. Your family needs to be realistic, understanding that you can not go to a school and enter a program that you do not meet minimum qualifications for. There is no shame in attending community college. you would be getting an education for less tuition while bringing your GPA up. What is really important is where you end up, not how you got there.
