My sat is a 1240 and I have a gpa is around 92 what are some good schools to go too? I also take really hard classes like ap.
This really depends on what you mean by “good.” It also depends on what you want to study (your intended major) SUNY publishes a viewbook that is available online. Just google “SUNY viewbook 2018”. Your high school’s guidance office may have copies, too.
What do you want to study?
There are over 60 SUNY schools and many of them offer different programs. For example, for nursing, I would recommend Plattsburgh’s direct entry program. For computer science, with your numbers, Albany might be a good choice as I don’t know that you would get into Stony Brook. I know 2 exceptionally math gifted students who had personal issues in HS and who are both doing comp sci at Albany and doing very well and loving it. If you want theater, look at Fredonia. Ditto for music education. Music performance, Fredonia or Potsdam. Business, Binghamton (your GPA is ok, but your SAT might be low).
Check out suny.edu, where you can see all majors and programs offered at all schools, along with the ranges of accepted students. You can also go to a school’s website as it usually has a profile of the current year’s entering class.
It depends on what you want to study, where you currently live, what kind of environment you want. I think you can get into most SUNYs except like SoM at binghamton and possibly geneseo (depends on program).
Do you want to major in premed or engineering? UB or Stony brook. Stony brook is more of a commuter school while UB is more residential.
Do you want to go to a hippie school with liberal arts programs? New paltz is your best bet.
Do you want an arty school? SUNY purchase is great for that. If you live in the nyc area, FIT is also an option.
Do you want to major in criminal justice, nanotechnology or intern in the state capital? Albany is a solid choice.
Do you want to live near canada and study music? Potsdam is great for that.
Do you want to become a gym teacher? Apparently Suny cortland is the place to be.
Do you want a smaller, close knit school with smart students? Geneseo is great for that.
Do you want a larger, residential school with a wider variety of programs and diverse student body? Go to binghamton.
