Good schools for Game Design & Development?

I'm looking for colleges with good Game Design & Development majors. I'm open to pretty much any area as long as it's in the U.S. I've been trying to look on CollegeBoard but they don't seem to be giving me very many results.. especially since I'm trying to avoid places like DeVry. It also has to be somewhere I can get a Bachelor's degree, not just an Associate's. Does anyone have any recommendations of schools to look into?

Also, please don't tell me that a degree in Game Design is useless. I'm interested in programming and game design, and it's the only way for me to be able to be qualified for jobs in both :) Thank you!

I know DeVry runs commercials like crazy…

Honestly, I think tha Carnegie Mellon has a good program, and maybe some UC’s, Big 10, and tech schools do, too.

Otherwise, consider Japan :)

Most art schools, I think, have game design programs. Schools that come to mind are The Art Institutes in Chicago and Digipen in Washington, which is actually a school center around game design and development.

Concentrate on your programming. Some game firms develop designers in house after identifying creative, competent people.

USC’s cinematic arts school does a lot with digital media.

I second USC.

I agree with USC.

UF has a digital arts and sciences program.

University of Illinois at Champaign
