Good Schools for Muah!

hmm i do prefer yale or harvard

Ashveer, I was just wondering though. I am truely concerned that perhaps Who's Who is not as big of a deal as I had previously believed. Based on what my counselors/friends were telling me, I thought it was a major, prestigious national award. I was planning on that as my "hook" for the top schools. Now... if what you guys say is true... I have no hook. If I don't get into HYP I don't know how i will live. Seriously. I may sound overdramatic, but it has been my life's dream since I was in third grade to go to HY or P. I always thought the Who's Who would make me a shoe-in. I am still not convinced y'alls are right, but... idk. I don't know what to believe anymore.

Mexico is where its at.

IVY:
Don't commit suicide but... Who's Who is nothing. National Merit is something. Discovering a cure for a disease makes you a shoe in. Or being a legacy.

you know which school seems to be very hyped up is georgitech. I've just heard many people gush about it, comparing it to HYP or Caltech! Sorry, a bit off topic

Ooooh... Who's Who is definitely not a hook. I'm sorry, but you shouldn't have been banking on that to get you in. You need to develop a real hook, and fast.

And don't make getting into HYP a life goal- that has to be one of the saddest things I have ever heard. Set higher goals that don't involve college. And I'm sure you'll do fine even at Cornell, or (God forbid) a state school.

You would be a strong applicant to HYP. Don't worry. Just don't list the Who's Who award, because sadly, it isn't prestigious. You don't need it, though.

Are you an URM?

I am so sick of hearing about Who's who award. Let's continue, no?

Ashveer - what tore said: "I know people who wanted me to apply to Stanford, but I didn't because I wanted to live in the northeast."
i.e. she didn't apply to Stanford precisely because she knew it was not in the Northeast.

calidan - incredible number of posts. I agree with your last two things -- if hotivy gets that, then whew, nothing to argue anymore. She apologized too, which is really good of her.

riceman - argh, for some of us, we're posting on thsi forum to help hotivy out. Don't stop us from giving her important information. You're on her thread trying to direct the convo.

okok, i'm really out of here now.

I must say, though, this has been a fun and active thread.

And probably one of the fastest-growing threads ever to grace CC.

PS- thanks, mea.

No... I am Asian. :(

We have it the worst... but we also work the hardest!

really. these have been my first posts actually. this is quite entertaining

Why is it that I am being referenced, yet I don't know why?

Hmm... at the start of this thread I never thought I'd say this, but good luck, HotIvy.

Oh, and please change your username. It's rather irritating (in my opinion :)).

Do your parents "crack the whip" over you?

eh hotivy, what's wrong with being asian? haha

I know so many washed-up not working anymore Asians... Son't stereotype your own race.. : (

Ricemanowl.. tihs forum is NOT for your entertainment even though you act as though it were. You randomly change the subject and interject stupid remarks. Please, leave unless you have something constructive to say. I KNOW for a FACT you did not get into Yale or get a 1600. So why don't you just be quiet and go away.

ugh tore, that is so stereotypical. "crack the whip" you're probably not asian

Let's not start this again! It was all ending so nicely.

Think good thoughts!

Can we all end on good terms? Please? Even Ricemanowl??
