I am sincerely sorry to tell you this, but Who's Who is not prestigious. Believe me.

Rice and Brown MEDIOCRE institutions? You really are insane. I never thought I would hear such a comment, especially on CC.

And I ws stating the FACT that "Who's Who" is not prestigious. I am sorry if you do not like this reality, but that is the plain and simple truth. It was by no means an attack on your credentials.

When most people say "Ivy League" they mean Harvard/Yale/Princeton. Some people even believe Stanford to be in the Ivy League. Schools like Brown/Dartmouth/Cornell/Rice do NOT come to mind.

Calidan--can you show me anything to back up your repeated assertions over Who's Who??

Brown's acceptance rate is very close to those of HYP...So how can the institutions ranked directly below HYP be mediocre, when they are so perfect?

This is so funny......

What I want to know is,how much time does it take for u to type in ur 24- letter username alternatively in Caps and small lettering?

Actually, no one thinks that Stanford is in the Ivy League.

And while many people do only think of HYP as the main Ivies, that is because they are not college-savvy. Anyone who has come in contact with college admissions aor anything college research-related will speak of all the Ivies when referring to the Ivy League.

And I thought it was common knowledge that Who's Who is nonsense. Just look it up on these forums and you will be able to see the popular consensus.

Stanford is not in the Ivy League. Not even close: http://www.answers.com/ivy+league&r=67

Read up, my dear, and be enlightened.

hey tore I don't think that Brown is anyworse then HYP. Schools of that caliber should be chosen based on fit rather then rankings. =). Besides...almost anyone who got into Brown or a similar quality school could probably get into HYP. It's all a numbers game.

What are you trying to say, kashbansal?

Tore--the acceptance rate is a function of APPLICANT pool. Obviously, applicants to HYP will be of much higher caliber than to those of brown.

Please keep in mind that I am NOT "bashing" brown. Merely stating facts.

Wrong once again- most people who apply to Brown are just as qualified as those who apply to HYP. They are just very different institutions that do not attract the same types of applicants, except for prestige-mongers.

I know, azn. Did you read what I said?

No offence hotivy but WHo's who is not prestigious. I mean...I even got invited into Who's Who, what does that tell you about that the quality of that program? ;P haha jk..but seriously though, it's not that prestigious. I'll copy and paste my previous post on another thread about who's who...

Calidan--do you HONESTLY believe Brown is as good as HYSM???

....Who's Who? should be changed to "Who's Rich?" or "who is who among the ordinary??

Being invited into the who's who family does not distinguish you. If you apply to the top college they are looking for "top awards" such as an Intel science fair, successful application into a foreign exchange program based on merit, an AP Scholar, etc. But Who's who won't...not an award that's randomly available to the top 50% of high school students.

---post from another thread about WHo's who

Yes, I do. I believe that it is every bit as good as HYSM or any other letter you wish to throw at me. In fact, if I got into both Harvard and Brown, I would pick Brown, simply because I like it better.

Calidan, you are an aberration than. 99/100 people would pick Harvard over Brown. I cannot believe we are even arguing this... Harvard vs. Brown???! Give me a break... NO ONE has EVER heard of schools such as Brown/Rice/whatever.

I love Brown, but I might apply to Harvard for graduate school, though. It has great graduate schools :)

HYP has more apps because it's flooded with "under-qualifed" applicants, which is not so much the case at Brown or Dartmouth. There are a bunch of people who apply to HYP only to see if they can get in; people who apply for the hell of it. If you weeded out those "under-qualified" apps I'd think that the remaining app pool would roughly resemble the pools at darthmouth and brown.

hOtIvYlEaGuEwAnNaBecHiCk, you are not in touch with academe. Many (at least those with some knowledge of both) would choose Brown over Harvard.
