lol, why's everyone obsessed about Who's Who? It's no big deal if you're in it or not! It's so easy to get in. Why don't you guys compare if you're a presidential scholar or a westinghouse scholar (hotivy do you even know what that is?)? Please....
But anyways, I was thinking about going to Rice (hence my sn), but now I'm sure I'm going to either Yale or Harvard because they are the better schools in my opinion. Haha, what do you guys have against HYP anyways? Trying to prove they're not the best schools?

Actually many people have heard of Brown and Rice.

And I would hope that anyone who had to choose between Harvard and Brown would base their decision off of personal tastes rather than relative prestige.

However, I doubt many people would have to make this decision, because they are such different schools that most people would not apply to both. And the people who do because of reputation-based reasons would not get into either.

I agree, azn. Many of HYP's applications are of that kind.

Ricemanowl... did you get into Yale/Harvard already??! What were your stats?!?!?!?

ricemanowl, you clearly haven't read what has been said. I like HYP very much. I am just saying there are also many other good schools, and Brown is one of them lol

Oh my God, again with the stats-obsession! Get over it! Seeing someone else's stats will not help you in any way at all!

hotivy, of course i've gotten into yale. And I happen to have gotten a higher SAT score than you did (1600). What do you say about that?

Calidan, that's your problem. You don't care at all about stats when its the stats that make or break the applicant.

calidan, you are so often correct. It is nice to have a sensible person like you around :)

"You don't care at all about stats."

Point out where he says that.

She's probably salivating too much over your 1600 to say anything.

PS- thanks, tore. I'm you're sensible enough to be against HotIvy in this discussion. I'm sure we'd be friends at Brown.

Ricemanowl, I can care less you got a 1600. For all we know, you may be lying! what were your GPA and SAT 2's?

By the way, I don't believe you've already gotten into Yale.

....I would think that there is little difference between a 1580 and a 1590. Heck my friend got into Harvard, Yale, & Brown with a 1520. (he chose Brown over Harvard & Yale).

Yes what is WITH Stats obsession? I knew this one guy at school who got a 1570 on the stupid SATs and wrote in EVERYONE'S yearbook: "I got a 1570 on the SATs. What did you get?" What a bastard. Haha, hotivy, sounds like you live for your resume. come on...

HotIvy- I hardly think it's my "problem" that I don't care about stats. I think that your preoccupation with them is somewhat unhealthy.

I don't have a stats OBSESSION. I just happen to know that that is what gets you into a top school. And by top school I mean Harvard Yale or Princeton. Ricemanowl... if you've already gotten into Yale, why is your username RICEmanOWL????? Shouldn't it be YALEmanBULLDOG or something? After all... your screen name was created after the Yale EA results were out.

What do you want to major in, by the way, hOtIvYlEaGuEwAnNaBecHiCk?

I will be majoring in psychology and minoring in biology.

Actually, after all my time spent on CC, you care about stats much more than anyone else I have ever encountered.

And if you knew anything about college admissions, then you would know that stats is one aspect of a slew of things that get you into a top school. One of the other things happens to be personality and character, and area in which you seem a little lacking.

For example, Brown puts much more emphasis on the essay than on SATs. And yes, Brown is a top school.

Hmm, hotivy, I'm surprised you don't care about my 1600, you sound covertly bitter. You are the one who's obsessed with stats. But one must admit, stats do count for something, but probably your GPA is most important. Hotivy, I happen to have a higher GPA than you do as well, but nevermind. Having high stats at least shows that the person made a good effort of high performance on the useless standardized tests. It's not true to say they don't matter.

I am surprised you are not more interested in Brown, then.
