Good Schools for Muah!

really. what are you guys arguing about anyways?

I wouldn't release your school if I were you. There are definitely some crazies online.

Riceman, if you really got into Yale... you'd be able to figure it out. I HIGHLY doubt you got a 1600 either.

Yes. We were arguing over whether schools like Brown, Georgetown, and Rice were "mediocre," and how if you go to an Ivy, you're set for life, whereas if you go to, say, some horrendously under-funded, pitiable state school like UC Berkeley, you will have a terrible life.

haha, hotwannabe, what's all this aggression for? Do you take offense to anything I'm saying?

I'm surprised no one has pointed this out yet - hotivyleaguewannabe isn't a shoe in, period. She's not even special. Even her highly prized SATs aren't top, luckily for her, since SATs really are a very small factor indeed. Her ECs are hardly distinguished relative to other applicants to the schools she's focused on. Her GPA, flip of the hand, tons of people have that. There is nothing in her application that would make me in the shoes of a Cornell adcom say 'yes, here's a valuable addition to the student body', and I'm sorry for her, because there's nothing in her personality that I have seen that would make me want to even know her either.

hotivyleague - I'm torn between really bringing out my repulsion against your attitude, and wanting very much to help you out. You cling so stubbornly to your Who's Who award and your stats, yet your lack of insight, openmindedness, and passion for anything but yourself and your resume will have you swept under the rug even if Who's Who weren't a notorious resume-padder. I think when you realize this you'll be understandably upset. Therefore, I would suggest that you try and make more friends around here because we will be the ones helping you out not-so-far down the road...

Getting into Yale = ability to understand everything, apparently.

"I'm surprised no one has pointed this out yet - hotivyleaguewannabe isn't a shoe in, period."

I already knew this...

Mea, nice of you to join our thread. you seem to take hotivy's comments so seriously! A bit presumptuous of you, I might say. And hotivy, do you doubt my SAT score because you have a lower one and think that no one can score higher than yourself?

Mea--do you have any idea what you are talking about? Cornell has a 30% accept rate, which makes just about anyone with a 1550+/4.0uw a shoein. I bring to the school 3 years experience on varsity cheer, softball and basketball. I am also an accomplished violinist. All this without mentioning the Who's Who award... which you all so adamently claim is trivial, but in reality, is a VERY prestigious NATIONAL award.

Why wouldn't we take HotIvy's comments seriously? This is a seriosu forum warranting seriosu responses. All we're doing is speaking our minds.

And OH MY GOD!!! Who's Who is NOT prestigious! Please stop sayng it is! All you're doing is undermining your own argument by saying this!

And don't rely so much on your precious acceptance rates- Chicago has a 40% acceptance rate, but you would most likely not get in.

The Who's Who award is a joke. How many times do we have to say this?

hmm, mea makes a cameo appearance, writes a flustered reply, and seems to have disappeared. Ugh, stop bringing up Who's who, it's getting old.

Ricemanowl, you're the only one who we don't take seriously. We all know you lie about your scores/acceptances. I see your joindate... and you joined in February 2005... AFTER Yale EA results were out.

LOL she acts like Who's Who her secret weapon or something.

And for the record, I don't think RiceMan is lying. He also probably joined CC earlier, since there were old forums, and the old SNs carried over.

whoa, ricemanowl. For a start, I do take hotivy's comments seriously. She needs a reality check and from what I've read through these pages, it hasn't gotten through to her yet, or I would have left her well alone. Secondly, I don't see how joining a public thread linked from the Rice forum is at all presumptuous.

I concur...

hOtIvYlEaGuEwAnNaBecHiCk, you are the only one here I might not take seriously.

Who's Who may be looked down upon here on College Confidential. Trust me, in academia, it is one of the most prestigious awards for high school students. My friends who were accepted to Yale and Princeton did not recieve the award. The only other person I know of who has recieved the award is now at HARVARD.

OK, you guys are right. I'm out of the loop. Why is ricemanowl upset with me, exactly?

hotivy, i read your posts. My opinion is that you shouldn't be confident. That's the honest opinion you were looking for, right?
