i just wanted some input from some oboists about good school choices for oboe performance.
i'm just looking for a good music school with a good reputation and, of course, good ensembles (orchestras & wind ensembles).
i know there are a lot of good schools around the country, but i'm looking at staying in-state right now for undergraduate school (NC).
and the only school that i really liked, that had a good accredited music program was UNC-Greensboro.
but i was just wondering if there was any other school that anybody would suggest.

I'm not an oboist, but I'm a violinist whose best friend is an oboist, so I've gleaned a lot of oboe info from him.
In general, your best choice in NC is going to be NCSA, followed by UNC-G, then Chapel Hill.
NCSA is getting to be a pretty good school, though I've heard not-so-good things about the oboe teacher.
NC is not the best place to study music, really, but if you really want to be in state, take lessons with the teachers at NCSA and UNC-G and see which you prefer. NCSA has by far the better reputation.
