Good schools in california

I need help.... I want to move to a warm place that is fun and full of different people... I am from Jersey and I love it here but I been here all my life. I am tired of the same people same environment and really tired of the cold. I would go to Florida but I know some people from there and is the same thing -_-... I just want to grow in life and i think Cali would be the perfect place. My parents don't really want me to leave but they'll understand eventually. I want to major in nursing and i eventually want to become a midwife =)... I have never left New Jersey (except when I go to NY but that doesn't count) I've also been to Florida a few times but it doesn't count either lol... I just want some advice on what I should do and some recommendations on some school in California that would somewhat fit what I expect...

which is:
Good education
Fun
Different people (diverse)
In a Urban but not soo urban area (decent place)
Safe area

Perfect Setting
(Calm, Fun, Warm, City life) =D

I hope some one can help

There is a California colleges sub forum.b

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/california-colleges/

Are you a junior or senior? other questions; majors you want available, cost considerations, stats if you want merit or if you might be Stanford esque.

I like Loyola Marymount.

actually I’m a freshman in college I go to Bergen Community College in New Jersey… and I’m
new to this so I don’t know what is “merit or Stanford esque.”… my major is Nursing

It is VERY hard to get into a nursing program in Calif.

It’s also very difficult, if not impossible to transfer into Calif publics, without junior standing…and I think the deadlines have passed.

What is your budget? How much will your family pay? Transfer students rarely get great aid packages.

If you want to transfer to a warmer climate and go into nursing, you may have to consider other states.

I don’t know about all the nursing programs out here, but i know that UCLA’s is pretty competitive. They had 100 applicants and only accepted like 9 or something for 2011/12.

Nursing (basic) is impacted to all CSUs that offer it, except for Monterey Bay:
http://www.calstate.edu/sas/documents/impactedprogramsmatrix.pdf

More about impacted CSU campuses and programs here:
[CSU Campus Impaction Information | Student Academic Support | CSU](http://www.calstate.edu/sas/impaction-campus-info.shtml)

More CSU admission information is at [CSU Mentor](http://www.csumentor.edu).

UCLA and UC Irvine are the only UCs that offer a nursing major. The major is heavily impacted there.

You can check the requirements for transfer students at [Welcome to ASSIST](http://www.assist.org) , though for an out of state community college, you have to look up your school’s course catalog to try to match up the needed prerequisites.

OP, can you afford going to school in CA?
