Hi
In the month of December I was given a conditional acceptance to the United States Military Academy at West Point. This ended my college search as West Point was my dream school by far. However in the last week I was notified that i did not qualify medically. Now I'm stuck, all the ivies i would have applied to are passed and most of my secondary schools are passed due to. I plan on reapplying to West Point in the next year so I'm just looking for a good school I can still apply to with a reasonable price.
Thank you for your time

IS rolling admission schools.

I don’t know anything about WP, but for many other selective colleges, transferring can be more difficult than fr admissions. So, if you haven’t already, you might want to check to see what it would mean to attend college this year, or if it would be better to take a gap year and then reapply.

Sorry to hear, that’s a tough situation.

University of Buffalo SUNY is accepting apps until March 1st and they offer an ROTC program, which would be a good alternative, if you decide not to transfer to WP.

Many schools out of the top 50 USNWR have a March 1 deadline.
One that comes to mind is University of San Diego.

Good luck! Good thing you found out when you did. It could have been much worse!

Thank you guys for your time, it was very informative. I’ll just start googling rolling admissions and look at the top 50 USNWR’s. All we can ever do is move forward or get left behind.
Thanks again

I’m not seeing ‘many’ USNWR top 50 w/deadlines that haven’t passed.

I took a quick look, didn’t check publics due to OPs request for “reasonable price”. The only top 50 I found was:

45 Yeshiva, Feb 1.

U of San Diego is ranked 97.

University of Pittsburgh (Pitt) has rolling admissions and may still be taking applications. You’ve probably missed the deadline for merit finaid and may be pushing it for housing guarantees. You were pursuing USMA, so I’d contact their ROTC department, too. Plan C would be start at CC, nail it, and apply as a transfer next year.

University of Michigan is Feb. 1. #28

Transylvania is Feb 1.

As an applicant to a military academy, I would think you were aware that you still needed to pass the physical qualification. Knowing that there are many things that can DQ a person, I would think you would have been knowledgeable enough to apply to some schools “just in case”. The word “conditional” was the clue, and pretty much code for “keep your options open at this point”. You may have to “settle” for a school outside the top 50. There are many great schools that just don’t rank on that list because alums don’t donate as much, or some other ridiculous reason. If you were DQ’d medically, it could happen again if you reapply, so choose a school carefully, or take a gap year, and apply to several schools next year instead.
