Good schools with Good merit

Thanks for the advice everyone. Considering my options, and since I already applied and have been accepted to schools with solid scholarship offers(some ex. Pitt, LUC, UA), I think I’m just gonna take a long shot and reach for ND or WASHU. My parents are willing to pay more at these institutions. But overall, I will choose one to apply to and need help in deciding.

  • Which school will I have a better chance of being accepted?
  • Which school will I have a better chance for better aid?(need based or merit)(upper middle class)
  • As a prospective med school student, where will I be able to thrive more at?
  • Finally, I heard WASHU hits the gpa pretty hard, is this true or is it pretty much the same at both ND and WASHU?

Add Denison and Rhodes to your list. Good for pre-med, good schools, great merit.

Get moving!

A couple thoughts:

“But overall, I will choose one to apply to and need help in deciding.” Why not apply to both? Both schools have low admittance rates so you probably increase the odds by applying to both.

“- As a prospective med school student, where will I be able to thrive more at?”

Your best option might be Loyola Chicago - Here’s why 1) you save money for med school 2) you have a better chance at a high GPA at LUC compared to WU/ND and 3) Being in the City of Chicago will give you great and opportunities for internships, medical-type community service, making contacts in the medical field, etc.

@londondad Thanks, I’ll definitely keep all of that in mind and LUC is a school I’m definitely considering. As for applying to both, I think it might take up too much time combined with any other additonal scholarship or whatever applications. So with that in mind, any reason to pick one over the other. I think I’m leaning more towards ND.
