Good schools with higher acceptance rate

If you believe you are competitive for the most selective schools but are looking for "safeties", consider the following schools. They are medium in size, have good reputation and an acceptance rate around 40%.

NMH
Kent
Loomis
Hill

Blair and Mercersburg can also be considered. There are many more, like Brooks, Berkshire, and Tabor.

Even very competitive applicants need back-up schools if they want to have choices around March 10th.

I agree with Burb Parent, if you’re willing to look beyond New England. I think our “trip south” was very fruitful.

I am aware that this list can be expanded indefinately, but let’s try not to - otherwise this thread would lose its meaning (you’d be better off searching borading school review). I started out trying to help out the “most competitive” applicants in identifying their “safeties”. I excluded Peddie because it has an acceptance rate of mid 20’s. I also excluded Tabor because its accepatance rate is 54% according to the Peterson’s. I would include Blair and Mercersburg perhaps, but I don’t know about Brooks and Berkshire. I haven’t heard much about them. Are they too - “local”?
