Good score w/out test prep?

Is there anybody out there that got a decent score (28+) on their ACT without paying for test prep? Things are tough right now and I can't even afford the cheap test prep offered at my school! :/

I was wondering if it's still posssible for me to get a good score if I study extremly hard using only test prep books. Has anyone recieved a high score with self studying? If so, what test prep books do you recommend?
-Oh and the same question goes for the SAT.

yep! I got a 32 with no prep other than doing 2 math practice sections in Princeton Review (math is generally my weak point, but surprisingly, I got a 33 on the math section!)

There’re libraries with ACT prep books. Save you a lot of money. I borrowed a Princeton Review book and a Kaplan book there, and did some of the sections in them. Scored a 32, and never spent a dime on ACT prep.

i got a 31 first shot…(still gonna take again)…never paid a penny for prep

Get

Official ACT Book w/ tests ($14-$20)

Princeton Review ACT ($20)

or

Barrons ACT Prep Book (Barrons is extremely hard) ($20)

34 no prep for ACT.
I took it for fun to see if I could get a better score than my SAT.

I basically winged everything o_O

I got a 28(not great or what your looking for) first time, no prep. So, I’m looking to improve and hope to score 32+.

yea I used princeton review and the red book
took twice: highest score was a 34 =)

I got a 30 after taking a couple free practice tests.
