Hey guys, I am currently a freshmen applying for sophomore standing.

I just got my grades and I am wondering if they will be good enough for Georgetown's School of Foreign Service.

Transferring from Davidson College with 3 A-'s, and 1 B+

Three of my classes were 300+ level and above, and one 200+.

My recommendations and extracurriculars are both great, I don't feel the need to elaborate, but just take my word for it and assume so.

My high school record is pretty good - Top 25%-30% at prestigious prep school.

Do you guys think my college gpa is good enough? The grade deflation here is a ***** and I was taking nearly all senior level courses as a freshmen...

It's possible, I'd say you have something like a 50-50 shot. Did you apply to Georgetown last year as a freshman? Also, what specifically were the classes? If the B+ was in a government class or something similar, you might have more trouble. If it was Math or Chemistry or something like that, you're in better shape.

Depending on how good you think your chances are at SFS, it's also much easier to get into one of the other schools at Georgetown, particularly Georgetown College. Once you're in the college, you can take most of the same classes open to SFS and apply for an internal transfer (which is much easier than coming from the outside).

Yes, I applied last year for freshman so they know I am interested. The classes were all very difficult and located in the same sphere of interest so it shows commitment to a singular interest or so I assume.

The classes were,

265 Contemporary German Anthropology - B+

345 History of Modern Germany - A-

361 Advanced German Language- A-

380 German Politics - A-

The only reason I got shafted on that one class was because the professor really didn't like me. I'm not sure what his problem is.

It should also be noted that last year I took a gap year in Germany where I studied at a German University on a full government scholarship. I thought that that could help me out a lot, what do you think?

You said something about internally transferring into SFS after entering the college, but I thought that was only feasible for students who had entered one of Gtown's colleges as a freshman. For example, I wouldn't be allowed to transfer twice, once into the college and then again internally or would I? I thought it would be looked down upon or not even allowed. Thanks for all your advice.
