Hello all! My d applied to OSU-Columbus back in July. Today(10/25/10) she received mail and the return address is from The OSU Honors and Scholars Center. I certainly will not open her mail but I cannot wait for her to get home either so I am hoping someone here can tell if they think this is a step towards admission or just some bulk mail they send out.

I thank you all for your assistance and I hope you all get accepted to the schools of your choice.

If I remember correctly they scan some applications and if the student has the credentials for honors college they will send info about it to the student since it is optional. I wouldn’t say it is an admissions letter but more of “if you do get admitted you are eligible for honors college” sort of letter. To be part of honors college you have to have a certain GPA and take a certain amount of honors college classes. Perks of Honors College are you attend orientation earlier as part of honors colllege; you get priority registration; special housing and special activities like study abroad.

I would take it as a good sign but no guarantee.
