Good Sites/Books For Improving Soft Skills?

I was wondering what are some good sites for building the soft skills that are becoming required nowadays, such as confidence (this is huge obviously), appearance (in terms of clothes, grooming, etc.), communication, etc. Any ideas?

Books to make you more confident and well-dressed? You can do it yourself and it’ll probably work better for you if you do. Think about what’s causing problems and just fix it.

?

I think this is a perfectly valid question. Just as a book on basketball or even Phil Jackson for that matter won’t be able to give you a wicked jump shot, they would still be able to give you some hints/general advice that can help you out. I know for sure that reading about suits and their nuances has given me info about how to improve my style, and I know that reading about body language/pointers on how to look more confident has helped out some of my friends.

You can do anything yourself but having an aid definitely won’t hinder the process unless you completely sacrifice practice in favor of theory (so to speak).

u need a book on confidence? whats it going to tell you?

Confidence is going to be your own issue, but for grooming and style there are plenty of style magazines for both men and women you can check out. I know AskMen and GQ are big ones for guys. For business communication, I learned a lot of those helpful tips and pointers you’re referring to in a management class I took. There are also a lot of books on professional etiquette, self-help type books.

The only real way to improve, though, is to do it yourself and learn from people by observing them and talking to them. Get an internship and you’ll be able to hone your skills through trial and error and capitalizing on the resources available to you (your bosses, colleagues, etc.) Like anything else, the more experience you get, the more comfortable you’ll get in all of these areas.
