I'm looking at Penn State but my parents want me to look at others... any ideas?

Purdue, Texas, Ga Tech, Cal Poly, UIUC, and Berkeley (tough OOS admit though) are all very strong in structures, with the last two being especially well regarded in that field. Others to consider include Va Tech, RPI, U of Buffalo, Rose-Hulman, and U of Washington. Really, most of the top civil engineering programs are at least decent (or better) in structures. There are a few specialty majors out there, like PSU's architectural engineering program and UCSD's structural engineering, but they pretty much only differ in name, as you can take the same courses as an upper division civil major at the schools mentioned above.

Hopefully that is helpful, let me know if you have any other ?s!

Northwestern was ranked the 10th in civil.

I'll definitely check out those schools and see what I think!

You most definitely need to check out Lehigh. One trip to Fritz lab will show you why this school is near (or at) the top in Structures.

..should have posted a link....
