Second college year student of University of Utah can't find internship in Salt Lake City or near in accounting or finance. Student transfered from NJ. Student has 4.0 GPA and sent out 25 resumes with cover letter. Every one is customizable for particular company. No replies at all. It's end of March already. Why that may be happenning? Is he doing something wrong? Any advise on how to land internship in this case ?
Many thanks for all replies

25 resumes is nothing.

Has this student spent time at University of Utah’s career services center to find out where other finance and accounting students get internships? That’s the first step. Less time on cover letters and more time finding out which companies are receptive to what he’s offering!

How about networking with other students that did find internships the previous year or for the current year? Ask them if they’d put in a word for your son at the place where they were or will be.

What about volunteering for a non profit? Did he just mail the resumes? That’s so not enough. Did he go to any networking events? Are their any groups having fundraisers he can help with?
